One Church, Two Stories
First Baptist Church of Canoga Park began as a mission of the First Baptist Church of Van Nuys. Pastor Vernon Snyder, then a visitation pastor of the church from Van Nuys, conducted the first worship service on September 7, 1952 in the Veterans of Foreign Wars Hall in Canoga Park. Incorporation as First Baptist Church of Canoga Park took place on April 27, 1954 with 53 charter members. Over the following decades First Baptist Church of Canoga Park has continued to be known for strong Bible teaching and a vibrant gospel witness in the valley.
Redemption Church of Northridge began in June 2010 as a church plant seeking to reach the northwest area of the valley with the gospel. Approximately thirty people made up the original core team, first meeting in the Pickard's back yard and then at various locations in the Northridge area.
In 2016 God brought these two churches into contact with each other and a dream began to develop of coming together as one church that would be stronger together than apart.
In August 2016 the two churches united as one church with the goal of seeing the church thrive and the community reached with the gospel. We are eager to see how the Spirit works and how God continues to write our history in the coming decades as one church.
